Idaho falls gem and mineral society member stopped by and said hello
Terry stopped by and gave a little bio on himself, welcome Terry, here is his story:
I am a member of the Idaho Falls Gem and Mineral
Society have been a member for about 20 years. My
favorite places to rock hound is all over it just
depends on what I am looking for at the time. I like
the Lemhi Valley area around Salmon Idaho for nice
petrified wood and leaf casts(very hard to find) the
best examples of the leaf casts are in the Leadore
Forest Sevice Office on display. Fossils in Montana
agates and stuff in Nevada, The best find I ever did I
was about 13 years old our rock club went on a field
trip the the Arco, Idaho area after about a 8 hour
hike me and my gradnfather fould this really large
amythest geode. The two of us spent 5 hours digging
it out and finally gave up. We had an estimated 400
pound geode sticking out of a rock cliff and decided
that we would come back later with better supplies and
tools. We have hunted that spot for 10 years never
finding it again. I like hunting the desert for
arrowheads and chips. I have found chert and other
pieces of rocks hundreds of miles from there local
that somone has carried and left.
I have to many rock hobbies I am a generalist of many.
thanks
terry
